The Beken Archives encompass over 500,000 photographs of all types of MARITIME CRAFT from 1888 to the present day. Ideal not just as quality 'wall decoration', but useful for marketing and advertising to reflect a clean lifestyle or team building. Invaluable too for publishers of Books, Posters, Cards, Magazines etc, as well as manufacturers of Tableware, Linen etc. | |
The historical part of the Archive from 1888 to 1970 consists of over 100,000 black & white glass plate negatives and features early Sailing Yachts, Steam Yachts, Schooners, Cutters, Ketches, Tallships, Liners, Warships, Merchant Ships and Powered Craft. From 1970 to 2005 the majority of the photography has been in colour using mainly Hasselblad medium format cameras. This part of the Archive consists of over 300,000 colour transparencies featuring Racing & Cruising Yachts, Powerboats, Dinghies, Windsurfing, Colourful Regattas (home & abroad) like Cowes Week, Antigua Sailing Week, St. Tropez, America's Cup etc. In 2005 the change to digital photography was made. Beken currently use Canon Eos 1DS Mkll 16.7 million pixel digital cameras producing 50 megabyte files. Over 50,000 new images are added annually with the accent on marine action. Beken can supply scanned images from the Black & White Archive (1888 - 1970) or from the later Colour Transparency Archive. From 2005 the images are all Digital. Selections can be provided and fees made available from the outset. Beken are members of the 'British Association of Picture Libraries & Agencies' and Beken follow British Average Prices for the use of their images in the publishing / manufacturing market. |
